After the release of Rox’s debut album ‘Memoirs’ in June 2010 with Rough Trade Records, Rox received critical acclaim, made a fair thousand fans & toured the world.
The Telegraph- ‘Memoirs makes Rox a genuine contender for the pop soul crown. Her casual attitude masks the technical accomplishment of her soulful singing.’
The Guardian- ‘Roxanne Tataei has been around long enough to have acquired a fan club that includes Paul Weller and Mark Ronson her vocals are elegant, and she never wastes a note, whether the song is a trip-hop weepie (Page Unfolds) or a Motown-influenced dance item (Do As I Say)’.
After several months of touring ‘Memoirs’, Rox decided to lock herself away for a year and write new material that was closer to her heart. Inspired by greats such as Janis Joplin & bands such as The Black Keys & The Dead Weather, Rox has created a sound that is soulful but this time with the low-fi undertones of Rock’n’Roll.
Recording new material with her new band later on this year, Rox’s new sound is rawer, fresher & sexier than ever before…
